GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. This role is fully remote within the United States, with core hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET and occasional weekend support during deployments.

Required: 15+ years of experience (or 10 extra years in lieu of a degree), exceptional communication, and leadership of geographically dispersed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of work experience required.
• 10 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong written and oral communication; decision-making and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Collaboration with development, engineering, and project management teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Agile experience desirable but not required.
• Experience within a large Enterprise Health IT environment, VA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution, priorities, deliverables, and stakeholder commitments.
• Coordinate activities across technical SMEs, Data Analysts, Technical Writers, and government stakeholders.
• Translate client requirements into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and resources across activities.
• Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Track and communicate team activities and risks to leadership.
• Develop executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
• Facilitate cross-functional reporting and drive action items to closure.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and promote collaboration and continuous improvement.
