Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization activities. The ideal candidate has federal civilian experience and excels in a dynamic environment with evolving client needs.

This position is fully remote within the United States, with core hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET and periodic weekend support during deployment events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a technical or related discipline.
• 15+ years of work experience required.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Experience operating in an agile environment is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution and stakeholder commitments.
• Coordinate activities across SMEs, Data Analysts, Technical Writers, project teams, and government partners.
• Translate client requirements into actionable plans and priorities.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and resources across concurrent activities.
• Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions to avoid delivery impact.
• Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of team activities and risks to leadership.
• Support development of executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings and drive action items to closure.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
