Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to design, implement, and operate data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including analytics platforms and relational databases.

This is a 100% remote role reporting to the Deputy CISO, collaborating with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams to safeguard data, enforce least-privilege access, and automate controls using IaC and platform APIs.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.
• Proficient with SQL and ability to assess queries, permissions, schemas, and database security configurations.
• Scripting and automation using platform APIs, IaC, or similar tooling.

Mansioni

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including labeling, masking, redaction, and de‑identification.
• Configures encryption controls for data at rest and in transit with key management and vaulting.
• Implements least‑privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Hardens security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, SQL Server, and data lakes.
• Embeds security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and export workflows; secures service identities and connections.
• Automates control deployment, validation, and compliance using scripting and IaC; supports security investigations.
