Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and improve data protection controls across the enterprise, including encryption, access controls, and secure data pipelines. This 100% remote role reports to the Deputy CISO and works with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams.

The role emphasizes encryption management, data classification, masking, and secure integration, with collaboration across platform owners and engineers to ensure data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field, including 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.

Responsibilities

• Implement data protection controls across the enterprise data estate and encryption controls for data at rest/in transit.
• Maintain least-privilege access models and conduct entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for cloud platforms and data services.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation using scripting and IaC.
• Collaborate with IT teams and provide hands-on technical support.
