Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is pursuing a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate data protection controls across the enterprise data estate. You will manage encryption, access controls, labeling, masking, and de-identification for data across platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or related field
• 2+ years focused on data protection or database security
• Proficiency with SQL for permissions, schemas, and security configurations
• Experience with cloud data analytics platforms and IAM services
• Scripting and automation using platform APIs, IaC, or similar tooling

Responsibilities

• Implements, operates, and improves data protection controls across the enterprise data estate
• Enforces data classification, labeling, masking, and de-identification
• Configures encryption for data at rest and in transit; manages CMK and keys
• Implements least-privilege access models and performs entitlement reviews
• Hardens security configurations for data platforms and data pipelines
• Automates control deployment and compliance validation using IaC and platform APIs
