Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server. Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or a related field with focus on data protection.
• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms including Azure SQL, SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Implement, operate, and improve data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configure encryption controls for data at rest and in transit, including CMKs and key rotation.
• Enforce least-privilege access models across data platforms, databases, and pipelines.
• Automate control deployment, configuration assessment, and compliance validation using scripting, IaC, and platform APIs.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Data Governance, and Data Engineering teams.
