Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and improve security controls across the enterprise data estate. You will work hands-on with encryption, key management, and access controls to protect data in platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and Data Governance teams, automating deployment, monitoring, and compliance with IaC and platform APIs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency with data protection lifecycle: classification, encryption, key mgmt, access controls.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and relational databases such as Azure SQL / SQL Server.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain reusable data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Embed security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation using scripting, IaC, and platform APIs.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Data Governance, and IT teams.
