Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Data protection lifecycle including classification, encryption, key and secrets management, access controls, monitoring, and secure disposal.
• Security capabilities of cloud data platforms and relational databases like Azure SQL and SQL Server.
• Azure identity, networking, storage, governance, and key management services.
• Regulatory, contractual, and policy requirements for institutional data (FERPA, GLBA, PCI DSS).
• Proficiency with SQL to assess queries, permissions, and database configurations.
• Hands-on implementation of classification, labeling, masking, DLP, secure integration, monitoring, and logging controls.

Responsibilities

• Implement data security controls across enterprise data estate.
• Configure encryption for data at rest and in transit; manage CMKs and secret vaults.
• Enforce least-privilege access across data platforms and perform entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and storage services.
• Embed security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and export workflows.
• Secure service identities, connectors, private endpoints, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Protect non-production environments with synthetic data and masking standards.
• Automate deployment, assessment, and compliance validation via scripting and IaC.
• Provide hands‑on support, runbooks, and documentation for data security solutions.
• Engage in threat modeling, risk assessments, and secure-by-design reviews.
