Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Data Platform Engineer to lead modernization of a healthcare data platform using a cloud-native AWS architecture. You will guide the migration of an MSSQL XML object store to scalable AWS services, enabling analysts to run SQL-based reports efficiently.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to define data models, optimize performance and cost, and implement CI/CD and IaC for data infrastructure. Remote position with U.S. focus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus
• Proven experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in production
• Experience delivering reporting/analytics for non-technical users
• Experience selecting AWS data services to meet reporting needs
• Familiarity with XML heavy data stores and data modeling

Responsibilities

• Lead healthcare data platform modernization initiatives
• Architect migration from MSSQL XML object store to AWS platform
• Design reporting layer for SQL queries against healthcare data
• Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata
• Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into data models
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure using AWS tools
• Document architecture decisions and data flows clearly
