Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to protect systems, networks, and data from threats. You will monitor access, triage incidents, perform rapid containment, and document events while collaborating with IT and development teams.

The role emphasizes vulnerability management, risk metrics, and security training, with a remote work setup requiring residency in CO, FL, MA, MN, OH, PA, or TX. Candidates should have 1–3 years in cybersecurity and related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information assurance, MIS or related field, or Associate’s degree specialized in IT Security or equivalent experience and relevant certifications
• 1 to 3 years of cybersecurity experience, or relevant desktop support, networking or system administration

Responsibilities

• Protect the organization's systems, networks, and data from cyber threats; monitor security access and respond to events
• Lead threat analysis, incident response, and maintain security posture with regular reporting
• Conduct vulnerability scanning and prioritize remediation of findings
• Develop risk metrics and provide investigations as needed
• Manage core security technologies and ensure proper configuration
• Generate security metrics and ensure regulatory compliance
• Provide user education and security training, leveraging LLM tools for analysis
• Understand network protocols and security architecture; work with SIEM for log analysis
• Deploy and monitor EDR, support Windows, Linux, and macOS security practices
• Communicate complex issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
