Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to protect our systems, networks, and data from evolving threats. You will monitor access, analyze threats, and manage security incidents while coordinating with IT operations and development teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information assurance, MIS or related field, or Associate’s degree specialized in IT Security or equivalent experience and relevant certifications.
• 1 to 3 years of cybersecurity experience, or relevant desktop support, networking or system administration.

Responsibilities

• Protect organization’s systems, networks, and data from cyber threats.
• Monitor security access and conduct threat analysis.
• Manage security incidents and response with rapid triage, containment, and documentation.
• Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation prioritization.
• Develop risk and threat metrics and provide investigation reporting.
• Administer core security technologies and ensure optimal configuration and effectiveness.
• Generate security posture metrics and stay aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in security training and user education initiatives.
• Leverage AI/LLM tools to support daily analysis and workflows.
• Understand network protocols and security architecture; work with SIEM tooling.
• Deploy and monitor endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems.
• Maintain familiarity with Windows, Linux, macOS, and cloud security best practices.

Education
