Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to protect its systems, networks, and data from current and emerging threats. You will monitor security access, perform threat analysis, manage incidents, and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets across our digital portfolio.

Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in CA, CO, FL, MA, MN, OH, PA, or TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field; or equivalent IT security experience.
• 1–3 years of cybersecurity or related IT/security roles.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, and incident ticketing systems.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and macOS; cloud security best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SANS are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and perform threat hunting to prevent breaches.
• Investigate and respond to alerts; triage and address incidents.
• Serve as primary incident responder with rapid containment and documentation.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and escalated incidents.
• Conduct vulnerability scans and track remediation of findings.
• Generate security metrics and reports on posture and compliance.
