Job summary

Post University seeks a Compliance & Contracts Attorney to serve as a legal advisor to campus stakeholders, under University Counsel supervision. The role emphasizes collaboration across legal, regulatory, faculty and staff, with a focus on contracts, privacy, IT, and student and employee matters for in-person and online programs.

Remote position with limited travel. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating vendor, technology and data privacy agreements; advising on compliance regimes;

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited US law school
• attaining approved house counsel status in Connecticut is required
• Strong critical thinking and excellent legal analysis skills
• Interest in developing expertise in contract review and key contractual provisions
• Ability to develop working knowledge of laws, regulations and policies related to higher education
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Speak effectively in diverse formats including in person and virtual presentations
• Superior drafting and negotiating skills
• Strong research, writing, editing, and oral advocacy skills
• Proficient computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates a variety of agreements including vendor and technology agreements, strategic partnerships and alliances, and agreements involving data privacy and security, international matters, and intellectual property
• Reviews outgoing group student communications to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices
• Provides legal advice relating to ethical operations and compliance
• Assists with international compliance for our growing international student population
• Supports the legal and compliance groups with other matters as requested involving areas of law such as privacy, GLBA, GDPR, NCAA, FERPA, TCPA, Title VI, and marketing (once these areas are learned) to ensure University compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Performs legal research, drafts and develops resource material, and performs educational outreach within the institution on legal and regulatory issues
