Job summary

Aon plc is seeking an experienced Construction Claim Advocate to represent general contractors and construction clients through the claim and dispute-resolution process. You will evaluate coverage, coordinate with insurers, and advise on risk-transfer opportunities while navigating complex liability matters.

Successful candidates bring deep construction claims knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial insurance, construction claims, carrier, TPA, brokerage, legal, or risk-management experience.
• Direct experience with claims involving job-site accidents, coverage analysis, contractual risk transfer, construction defect, and/or litigated construction claims strongly preferred.
• New York Labor Law experience, particularly 200, 240(1), and 241(6), strongly preferred.
• Must have the willingness to obtain an active Property and Casualty license within four months of hire (90 days).
• Relevant insurance or claims designations, such as AIC, ARM, CPCU, CRIS, or SCLA, are beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for general contractors and construction clients throughout the claim and dispute-resolution process.
• Evaluate coverage and contractual risk-transfer opportunities; coordinate with insurers and defense counsel.
• Analyze coverage, contracts, and priority of coverage to maximize insurance recovery.
• Develop and pursue risk-transfer strategies with subcontractors and insurers.
• Support construction defects and completed operations claims and assist with dispute resolution.
• Manage New York Labor Law claims, including 200, 240(1), and 241(6).
• Oversee litigated claims, including strategy, damages, and settlement posture.
• Review coverage positions, tenders, denials, and claim reports; propose action.
• Maintain clear documentation and action plans; elevate issues when needed.
• Identify claim trends to inform risk management and insurance placement.
