Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP is seeking qualified compliance lawyers to join the US Compliance team. The role focuses on reviewing conflict-of-interest checks for prospective lateral hires and resolving conflicts to enable hiring.

The position requires coordinating with global teams, managing a docket of conflicts, and occasionally working outside regular hours. Remote work is possible from states with an office.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in one or more States where Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP has an office (Texas, New York, California, DC)
• Experience working as an attorney in a firm environment
• Knowledge of US conflicts rules and related ethics considerations
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to think strategically
• Excellent written and oral communication in a multi-cultural environment
• Ability to interact with senior management and partners across levels
• Confidence to exercise risk-based judgment daily
• Familiarity with confidentiality, privilege and client care obligations
• High analytical ability to anticipate problems and propose solutions
• Ability to supervise two analysts and manage daily workflow

Responsibilities

• Advise partners, attorneys and the Global Compliance Team on conflicts of interest identification and resolution.
• Supervise the workflows and work products of at least two Compliance Analysts.
• Interact with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP management to resolve conflicts in new matter intake and lateral hires.
• Manage a docket of 15–30 outstanding conflict matters at any time.
• Prepare conflict reports for prospective lateral hires identifying issues and proposed solutions.
• Assist with enforcement of Global Practice Standards addressing stock, sanctions, AML and cyber security considerations.
• Liaise with Compliance Teams in Australia, Canada, South Africa and beyond on a daily basis.
• Analyze conflict issues surrounding directorships and trusteeships for database maintenance.
• Review client relationship letters for contractual obligations related to conflicts.
• Handle questions related to policies on share dealing.
