Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in Compliance to embed with the Office of the CTO. You will identify automation opportunities, prototype solutions on Coinbase's AI platform, and drive adoption across Compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience translating complex workflows into engineering requirements and constraints.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and audit-ready data handling.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership to surface automation opportunities with high business leverage.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as foundation and propose net-new builds when needed.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling to optimize internal and vendor solutions.
• Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and defensible to regulators with human-in-the-loop controls.
• Drive adoption through walkthroughs and feedback loops so tools are actually used.
