Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer within Compliance to embed with leadership and translate regulatory workflows into scalable AI tooling. You will prototype rapidly on Coinbase's AI platform and drive adoption across the Compliance organization.

The role requires 5 years of software engineering, hands-on deployment of LLM-based applications, and the ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to improve workflow efficiency and risk management.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications.
• Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts.
• Familiarity with compliance/regulatory systems concepts.
• Experience in regulated finance environments preferred.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership to surface automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the foundation.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership, translating regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define the build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling.
• Ensure auditable, defensible automated outputs for regulators.
• Drive adoption through training and feedback loops.
