Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time HB Coding Analyst to serve as the coding and reimbursement expert for ICD-10-CM and HCPC coding. You will review records, assign accurate codes, and collaborate with Patient Accounting and case management to optimize reimbursement.

Required: 3 years in acute care, RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/COC/CPCAHIMA or AAPC membership. Ability to meet productivity and quality standards and navigate NCCI/NCD/LCD edits.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in acute healthcare setting.
• RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPCAHIMA or AAPC membership.
• Part time, 20 hours/week.
• Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, CPC.
• 4 years’ experience in acute healthcare setting.
• 4 years’ experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 procedures for outpatient encounters.
• Review medical records to code diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers and other clinical teams for coding reimbursement.
• Interpret documentation to support appropriate coding and reporting.
• Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD or other outpatient edits to maximize clean claims.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards for each encounter type.
