Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an HB Coding Analyst to serve as the coding and reimbursement expert in ICD-10-CM coding with HCPC code proficiency. This part-time role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration with multiple clinical and accounting teams, and adherence to coding guidelines in an outpatient setting.

You will review clinical documentation, assign codes, and ensure reimbursement aligns with policy and payer requirements. Immediate availability preferred.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in acute healthcare setting.
• RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPCAHIMA or AAPC membership.
• Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, CPC, 4 years in acute healthcare.
• 4 years’ experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Uses coding expertise to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for outpatient visits.
• Assigns Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.
• Reviews medical records to code diagnoses, procedures and E/M services.
• Collaborates with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers and clinical areas.
• Interprets documentation to report accurate diagnoses and procedures.
• Follows ICD-10-CM guidelines and Coding Clinic references.
• Interprets conventions to select accurate codes with high accuracy.
• Resolves NCCI, NCD/LCD or other outpatient edit claim failures.
• Meets established coding productivity and quality standards.
