Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Coding Analyst for a part-time remote role based in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Missouri. The HB Coding Analyst will specialize in ICD-10-CM coding and HCPC codes, supporting outpatient coding and reimbursement processes.

The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to coding guidelines, and collaboration with patient accounting and clinical teams. Part-time schedule at 20 hours/week.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in acute healthcare setting.
• RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPC certification.
• AHIMA or AAPC membership.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for outpatient visits.
• Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.
• Review records to code diagnoses, procedures, and E/M services.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting and case managers on coding reimbursement.
• Interpret documentation to report diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow ICD-10-CM guidelines and Coding Clinic for HCPCS to select codes.
• Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD or other outpatient edits.
• Meet productivity and quality standards for encounters.
• Other duties as assigned.
