Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a HB Coding Analyst to perform outpatient ICD-10-CM coding and HCPC coding with accuracy and compliance. You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, review records, and collaborate with Patient Accounting and case management to support reimbursement.

The role requires at least 3 years in acute care, relevant credentials, and a strong knowledge of coding guidelines. Part-time 20 hours/week; day shift.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in acute healthcare setting; RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPCAHIMA or AAPC membership.
• Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, CPC
• 4 years’ experience in a professional setting

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visit types
• Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters
• Review medical records to code diagnoses, procedures, and E/M services
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and other clinical areas for coding reimbursement expertise
• Interpret documentation to report appropriate diagnoses and procedures
• Follow ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
• Interpret coding conventions and notes to select appropriate codes with high accuracy
• Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD or other outpatient edits as assigned
• Meet established coding productivity and quality standards for each encounter type
• Other duties as assigned
