Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time HB Coding Analyst to join our coding and reimbursement team. The role focuses on ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and HCPC level I/II procedures for outpatient encounters, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

You will collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical teams to ensure timely and accurate coding, review documentation, and resolve coding edits while adhering to official guidelines.

Qualifications

• Required: 3 years of experience in acute healthcare setting and membership in RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/COC/CPCA or AAPC.
• Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS/CCS-P/COC/CPC; 4 years’ experience in acute healthcare setting.
• 4 years’ experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes for outpatient visits.
• Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.
• Review medical records to code diagnoses, procedures, and services.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical areas to provide coding reimbursement expertise.
• Interpret documentation to report accurate diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow ICD-10-CM guidelines and HCPC coding resources.
• Resolve NCCI, LCD/NCD edits and claim issues.
• Meet coding productivity and quality standards for outpatient encounters.
