Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Coding Analyst I to provide expertise across professional, facility, drug, DME, and lab coding for regulated programs. The role reviews claims, handles provider appeals, and supports multiple departments while ensuring ERISA compliance and accurate reimbursement.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree and coding experience; a bachelor’s degree and coding certification are preferred. Remote work options are available where approved.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited institution. Education will be verified.
• Two years of work experience in coding, healthcare, or in a health plan environment.
• Demonstrated Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Education will be verified.
• National professional coding certification (e.g., CPC/CCS). Must be obtained within one year of hire.
• Two years of coding or auditing experience in a professional, facility, or health plan environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing claims (pre-payment) to monitor billing practices and ensure accurate coding and reimbursement.
• Ensure review decisions comply with ERISA standards.
• Logging provider appeals and sending correspondence to providers.
• Act as a consultant to multiple departments and engage with physicians and facilities.
• Support higher level analysts and manage workload.
• Maintain subject-matter expertise and educate providers and staff accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with all coding regulations for all provider specialties and claim types.
