Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cloud Security Operations Analyst to join our Security Operations team, delivering managed security services for cloud-based infrastructures. This remote position supports a Herndon, Virginia-based team and involves guiding others in evaluating cyber posture and developing monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities include enhancing monitoring capabilities, incident triage, endpoint security policy implementation, and producing regular security reports.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree focused on Cybersecurity or Computer Science.
• 2+ years cybersecurity or cloud experience, preferably in SOC.
• Experience with Unix, Linux or Windows operating systems; comfortable on the command line.
• Experience with advanced endpoint security tools and their use to counter threats.
• CISSP, CEH, CASP or other security certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve system and network security monitoring capabilities.
• Monitor, triage, and notify clients of potential security incidents; tune sensors to reduce false positives.
• Implement endpoint security agent policies and rules to meet defensive objectives.
• Support operational threat analysis based on log correlation and endpoint tools.
• Support contingency and incident response activities.
• Develop monthly/quarterly reports based on monitoring and alerting capabilities.
• Recommend improvements; maintain production and non-production systems to protect data.
