Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP in the United States is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform, ensuring high-quality data for analytics, reporting, applications, and AI.

You will set data engineering standards, supervise teams, and coordinate with Data Science & AI, IT Operations, and business leaders to deliver scalable, secure data products in hybrid or remote settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience leading data engineering teams and setting direction, standards, and priorities.
• Experience managing budgets and making cost-conscious decisions about tools, platforms, and services.
• Strong understanding of modern data engineering practices, incl. ingestion, consolidation, transformation, and organization for analytics and AI.
• Extensive experience with data management and data transformation, including performance, reliability, and scalability considerations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Data Engineering staff and foster professional growth in their direct reports.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership for the firm’s data platform, focusing on cloud-based data foundations.
• Define and promote best practices for data engineering, including code quality, testing, deployment, monitoring, and documentation.
• Design, implement, and maintain processes for acquiring, consolidating, and organizing data from core systems and external sources.
• Collaborate with Data Science & AI teams, IT Operations, and business leaders to translate challenges into data requirements and platform improvements.
