Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mid to Senior Software Engineer to drive modernization from legacy on-prem software to a cloud-native platform. You will design and build scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines, ingesting, transforming, and modeling data from diverse sources for our US Navy team.

You’ll own end-to-end project delivery, advocate best practices in database usage and system architecture, and collaborate with engineers, end users, and external stakeholders in a fully remote environment within

Qualifications

• Proficient in at least one modern language (Go/TypeScript/Python) with testing.
• Strong system design, API development, and cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Experience decomposing monoliths into microservices and building secure access controls.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into technical solutions with data architects and stakeholders.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and RBAC/ABAC frameworks.
• Develop cloud-native data transformations for diverse data sources.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and metadata lineage throughout pipelines.
• Drive CI/CD, observability, testing, and architectural improvements.
• Collaborate with partner engineers and stakeholders on mission-critical projects.
