Defense Unicorns is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our open source focused team. You will design and deploy features with direct impact on mission outcomes while engaging with the open source community.

You’ll lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure interoperability with defense systems while working in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment across the United States.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record in production systems.
• Experience building tools focused on software lifecycle and management.
• Proficiency in Go and understanding of cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and deployment of features across open source projects.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and end users to ensure solid solutions.
• Engage with open source communities and drive stewardship of dependencies.
• Identify ambiguities in product requirements and drive clear outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and uphold engineering standards.
