Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Navy Delivery team, blending DevOps and platform security across diverse baselines and engagements.

You will bridge applications with the Navy platform, influence CI/CD, GitOps, and Kubernetes deployments, and mentor engineers while promoting secure coding practices.

Remote work available in the United States with travel 4–12 times per year; compensation reflects national benchmarking for the role.

Qualifications

• Experience building and securing modern platform services across multiple domains.
• Proficient with Linux/Unix systems and infrastructure as code.
• Proven ability to mentor and grow junior engineers in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a bridge between applications and the Navy platform, promoting best practices.
• Lead with strong Linux/Unix expertise and influence cluster build/maintenance (EKS, RKE2).
• Implement infrastructure as code and deploy Kubernetes clusters across distributions.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with platform teams.
• Ensure secure coding, vulnerability remediation, and cloud security across projects.
