Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Revenue Cycle Educator and Clinician Services coder to lead onboarding and ongoing training for physicians and APPs in CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and risk adjustment. You will review documentation for accuracy and deliver targeted education to improve reimbursement and compliance.

Qualifications

• Requires RHIA/RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or CPC credentials issued by AHIMA/AAPC.
• Completion of advanced training in revenue cycle management or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education via newsletters, scorecards, and presentations covering CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, risk adjustment, payer requirements, and rejection resolutions.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for physicians/APPS, locum tenens, residents, and students ensuring documentation accuracy from day one.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback by reviewing clinician records and conducting spot checks; escalate non-coding issues as needed.
• Serve as primary contact for coding inquiries; coordinate with internal teams to resolve complex issues like NCCI bundling and high-complexity charge edits.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely, accurate charge submissions and reduce claim denials.
• Collaborate across CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment, and Population Health to improve documentation practices and system optimization.
• Participate in specialty and department meetings; identify trends and deliver targeted education to improve coding accuracy.
• Refine Epic documentation tools (templates, order entries, diagnosis lists, SmartSets) to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA standards; stay updated on evolving policies.
• Promote a culture of ethical coding and continuous improvement, supporting clinicians with timely updates and education.
