Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a senior Clinical Coding Educator to lead proactive coding education and onboarding for Physicians and APPs, including Locum Tenens and residents. You will ensure documentation accuracy from the start and support cross‑department collaborations to improve coding practices.

Ideal candidates bring advanced coding expertise across ICD, CPT and HCPCS, plus strong Epic experience and a commitment to ethical, compliant reimbursement practices.

Qualifications

• Advanced coding expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS.
• Strong knowledge of coding guidelines and compliance requirements.
• Experience with Epic and related reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education via newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, residents, and students.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback and escalate issues as needed.
• Serve as primary contact for coding inquiries and coordinate issue resolution.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely, accurate charge submissions and reduce denials.
• Collaborate with CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment and Population Health to improve practices.
• Participate in meetings and deliver targeted education to improve accuracy.
• Refine Epic documentation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA standards of ethical coding.
