Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a remote coding education specialist to lead education on CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and risk adjustment, and to support clinicians with documentation accuracy. This role emphasizes onboarding, training, and ongoing guidance across departments.

The position requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC credentials or equivalent AHIMA/AAPC certifications, advanced revenue cycle training, and 4+ years of expert coding experience. Remote work is available for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Advanced coding knowledge across ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and billing guidelines.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology understanding.
• Epic and reporting tools proficiency for data analysis and workflow optimization.
• Ability to review clinician documentation and provide corrective feedback.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving in a regulated coding environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, including residents and students.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback and escalate non-coding issues.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve complex coding issues and optimize reimbursements.
