Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a remote-based Senior Medical Coding Educator within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle. The role focuses on proactive coding education, onboarding and compliance for physicians, APPs, and residents, ensuring accurate documentation from the start.

You will guide clinicians through CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS guidelines, work with Epic and reporting tools, and collaborate across departments to optimize documentation and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Experience with CPT/ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and HCPCS.
• Proven ability to educate clinicians on documentation and coding rules.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex coding inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards and presentations.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for physicians and APPs, including residents and students.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback and escalate non-coding issues as needed.
• Serve as primary contact for coding inquiries and coordinate with internal teams.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely charge submissions and reduce denials.
• Collaborate across CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment and Population Health.
• Participate in specialty meetings and deliver targeted education to improve accuracy.
• Refine Epic templates, orders and diagnosis lists to improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and AHIMA standards.
