Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a detail-oriented Payments Accountant to process and reconcile check payments, primarily via Stripe, for a remote team in the United States. You will handle daily deposits, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with Support to resolve complex cases while supporting month-end closings.

Qualified candidates will have AR/payments experience, strong Excel skills, and a proactive mindset to improve processes in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts receivable, payment processing, or finance operations.
• Familiarity with Stripe, invoice reconciliation, or lockbox payment processing.
• Strong attention to detail for payment discrepancies (amounts, dates, references).
• Proficient with spreadsheets and invoicing systems; can handle financial data.
• Clear written communication and ability to coordinate with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Process and match incoming check payments in Stripe against invoices.
• Reconcile daily deposits and payment batches with complete records.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, including short/overpayments and duplicates.
• Identify and process refunds or credits for errors or overpayments.
• Collaborate with Customer Support to address payment issues and escalations.
• Identify recurring reconciliation errors and implement process improvements to reduce manual work.
• Document reconciliation workflows and SOPs for consistency.
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and support month-end closings.
• Meet targets for matching payments and resolving discrepancies within five business days.
