Job summary

NMS is seeking a Kitchen Helper to maintain sanitation and perform cleaning, stocking, and light food prep in a remote camp kitchen and dining area in Alaska. The role requires teamwork, strong cleanliness discipline, and the ability to follow safety guidelines across multiple camp facilities.

The position may involve assisting cooks, preparing items like vegetables and coffee, and supporting service lines while living in dormitory-style accommodations at the remote camp location.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year in a commercial kitchen or vocational training showing knowledge of cleaning equipment, food prep, and cleaning processes.
• Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe certification required on hire.
• Pass pre-employment checks which may include drug, medical, fit-for-duty and hearing tests.
• Ability to work as part of a team with staff, customers, and clients.
• Ability to make quick decisions with minimal supervision.
• Must stand for 12 hours per shift on rotation.
• Must live in dormitory-style accommodations in remote camp.
• English reading/writing/speaking required by contract.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines of company and client.

Responsibilities

• Assists cooks and coordinates activities in a food service area.
• Prepare and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
