Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Benefits Administrator responsible for the effective administration and evaluation of employee benefit programs. This remote role supports daily operations, liaises with vendors, and ensures compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and 125 plans.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of benefits experience, with expertise in data integrity, enrollment windows, and benefits communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of employee benefits experience.
• Experience with health and welfare, leaves, and COBRA benefits.
• Knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA and 125 plans.

Responsibilities

• Administers medical, dental, vision, life, and other benefit programs per plan documents.
• Responds to daily inquiries and resolves issues per service levels.
• Coordinates benefit enrollment windows with HRIS/IT and vendors, ensuring data accuracy.
• Prepares communications for benefits training and updates.
• Processes payments to vendors and audits costs and claims.
• Provides recommendations for process improvements in benefits administration.
• Delivers training to managers and employees on benefits.
• Keeps up with federal/state regulations (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, 125).
• Supports 5500 filings, audits, notices, and required documents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
