KeyStaff Professionals- A Division of Midwest Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to support the administration and communication of employee benefits. You will assist employees in understanding and using benefits, manage enrollments and eligibility changes, and help ensure regulatory compliance.

This role is ideal for an HR or benefits professional who enjoys helping employees, solving problems, and collaborating with internal teams and external benefits providers.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of benefits administration experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and employee benefits compliance preferred.
  • Experience maintaining employee information in an HRIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefit enrollments, changes, and cancellations across health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records in the HRIS.
  • Process benefits data and support ACA reporting and compliance activities.
  • Respond to questions regarding benefits, eligibility, coverage, and plan options.
  • Assist employees with claims resolution and benefits-related concerns.
  • Coordinate with carriers, plan administrators, and vendors; track outstanding issues.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Benefits Specialist to support the administration and communication of employee benefits programs. This position will assist employees with understanding and using their benefits, manage enrollment and eligibility changes, resolve benefits-related questions, and help ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer employee benefit enrollments, changes, and cancellations for health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans
  • Maintain accurate employee benefits records within the HRIS
  • Process benefits data and support compliance activities, including ACA reporting
  • Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, eligibility, coverage, and available plan options
  • Assist employees with claims resolution and other benefits-related concerns
  • Communicate with insurance carriers, retirement plan administrators, and other benefits vendors
  • Track and follow up on outstanding claims and service-related issues
  • Support compliance with ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations
  • Prepare benefits reports and documentation for audits and regulatory requirements
  • Create and distribute open enrollment materials, benefits summaries, and policy updates
  • Support employees throughout the open enrollment process
  • Organize benefits-related employee training sessions and informational workshops
  • Track benefits-related leaves of absence, including FMLA and short-term disability
  • Prepare reports related to benefits enrollment, utilization, and costs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • One to three years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or a related position preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement benefit plans
  • Knowledge of ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and employee benefits compliance preferred
  • Experience maintaining employee information in an HRIS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong customer service, problem-solving, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Professional and confidential when handling sensitive employee information
