Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Supervisor, Behavioral Health Case Management to provide day-to-day clinical leadership for the Behavioral Health Case Management team while maintaining a manageable caseload. The role emphasizes coaching, audits, and compliance to improve member outcomes across care settings.

You will supervise staff, coordinate care, and guide complex cases, with a focus on data-driven improvement, policy adherence, and collaborative practice in a remote national scope.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted behavioral health clinical license (Ph.D./Psy.D., LCPC, LMFT, LCSW, and/or RN).
• Nevada state license or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
• 5+ years of behavioral health experience.
• 1+ years of case management experience.
• Knowledge of behavioral health levels of care, community resources, care transitions, crisis and safety planning, and social drivers of health.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead staff, provide case consultation, and manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated solid clinical documentation, auditing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use data, audit findings, and operational trends to guide coaching and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Staff supervision and daily operations: Provide day-to-day leadership for case managers and care coordination staff, including work assignments, coverage planning, workload monitoring, schedule support, and timely resolution of operational concerns.
• Clinical consultation and difficult-case staffing: Lead individual and team case consultations for complex, high-risk, or difficult cases, identify barriers, clarify next steps, strengthen care plans, coordinate escalations, and connect members with resources.
• Direct case management: Maintain a caseload, complete assessments, develop care plans with measurable goals, conduct outreach, coordinate care across providers and settings, and document activities.
• Care coordination and member support: Assist members and caregivers with navigation, resources, treatment engagement, self-management education, safety planning, discharge follow-up, and continuity of care.
• Quality auditing and compliance: Complete audits of case files, care plans, outreach, and documentation for accuracy, timeliness, quality, and compliance with standards.
• Audit follow-up and corrective action: Communicate findings, identify trends, provide coaching, monitor remediation, and support corrective action plans.
• Program and workflow oversight: Support care management programs, templates, reports, and quality-improvement activities; identify gaps and propose solutions.
• Training and onboarding: Support orientation, mentoring, and ongoing education for staff on documentation standards and care planning.
