Job summary

Affirm, a remote‑first company, seeks a Bank Controller to lead the accounting function during a growth phase. You will oversee monthly reporting, regulatory filings, and coordination with external auditors while partnering with engineering on automation initiatives.

We require a CPA/CA with 10+ years in accounting/finance and 5+ years in people management. USA base pay ranges from $164k to $245k, with comprehensive benefits and equity options.

Qualifications

• Accounting designation such as CPA or CA.
• 10+ years relevant experience in Accounting, Finance or Treasury‑related areas.
• Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
• Experience building out tools and processes and scaling an Accounting team.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, Regulatory reporting.
• Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience.
• Extremely detail oriented with a strategic, can‑do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build and lead the Bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as we establish the function.

• Financial Reporting: Oversee all monthly reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
• Regulatory Oversight: Build a controlled regulatory reporting function to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of required filings (e.g., FFIEC 041 Call Reports, Part 363 Annual Reports, and Federal Reserve reporting).
• Audit Management: Work closely with our external auditors to coordinate the completion of the annual Bank financial statement audit.
• Process Automation: Work with our engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement various tools to drive accounting/reporting automation.
• Strategic Analysis: Manage other processes and functions, including financial analysis and projects as required.
