Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Platform Software Engineer in Jacksonville, FL to own the backend for payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API. You will improve services for speed, cost, and reliability, and automate repetitive tasks to scale with the product.

Collaboration with product, mobile, and web teams is essential to keep the architecture ahead of the evolving product. The role emphasizes high-availability design, strong observability, and a pragmatic approach to shipping.

Qualifications

• Backend experience with TS/Node is required.
• Experience with GCP; knowledge of AWS/Azure or similar clouds.
• Shown ability to delegate ownership and ship results.
• Experience designing for high-availability and Kubernetes deployments is a plus.
• Ability to describe reasoning and walkthrough take-home assessments.
• Prefer: containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Turn services you didn’t write into faster, cheaper, and more robust ones.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and keep checks after release.
• Automate repetitive parts of your role to free time for other work.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable processes for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend ahead of the product.
