Job summary

Speechify, a Tampa-based leader in text-to-speech, seeks a Software Engineer for Platform backend. You will own the APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across web and mobile clients and will optimize systems for reliability and cost-efficiency.

You’ll work with product, mobile, and web teams to keep the backend architecture ahead of product needs. The role emphasizes scalable, high-availability services and an asynchronous culture.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Habit of delegating work you used to own and having something to show for it.
• Daily setup with AI agents; describe what runs unattended and review points.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve services you didn’t write to be faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Ensure correctness before ship and keep checks after you move on.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to free up time for higher impact work.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable processes for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers.
