Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer for Platform in Chicago, IL. You will design, build, and own backend APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API across a multi-platform product ecosystem.

The role emphasizes reliability, performance, and the ability to automate routine tasks. A strong background in TS/Node and cloud platforms is essential for success in a fast-paced, fully distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure or others).
• Ability to ship reliable services with monitoring and logs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and TTS API.
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more robust.
• Ensure correctness before shipping changes and establish checks for long-term reliability.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to focus on higher impact work.
• Create reusable work patterns that the whole team can adopt.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction.
