Job summary

Coalition, the world’s first active insurance provider, is seeking an Associate Underwriter. This remote role can be based anywhere in the United States, with a strong preference for New York City.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial insurance, account management, or a related broker-facing environment.
• Ability to analyze risks using established policies, guidelines, and authority parameters.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and marketing skills for professional representation with brokers and clients.
• Growth mindset and learning orientation with comfort taking feedback to deepen underwriting knowledge.
• Emerging presentation skills and client presence in larger-account underwriting environments.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts within authority, aligned with guidelines and carrier requirements.
• Build and deepen relationships with cyber specialists and sophisticated P&C brokers as a trusted underwriting partner.
• Maintain disciplined underwriting files, documentation, and internal tool usage per workflows and governance.
• Participate in broker and client meetings, handling external presentations and account strategy.
• Handle nuanced coverage, structure, and wording discussions, escalated with CPU or leadership when needed.
• Partner with Coalition’s security team and other stakeholders to bring technical and portfolio insights into underwriting decisions.
• Provide feedback on underwriting guidelines, tools, and processes to scale high-quality production underwriting.
• Regular travel required for broker relationship management, client meetings, broker education, and market development.
