Job summary

Alabama Connections Academy is seeking an Assistant Manager of Counseling Services to support the Manager of Counseling and school leadership from a home office or Athens, AL. You will guide staff, help students meet graduation requirements, plan courses, and provide crisis intervention.

Responsibilities include ensuring student success, collaborating with teachers, maintaining PLPs, reviewing transcripts, and coordinating transcripts and records for families.

Qualifications

• Min of 5 years Counseling experience, with preferably three years in a virtual setting.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Alabama Counseling Credential endorsement preferred.
• Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products).

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with professionalism, instructional support and customer service.
• Ensure academic success by maintaining high communication with parents and delivering program information.
• Assist staff with program changes and new software introductions to support student success.
• Maintain high-quality communication with staff, students and families.
• Provide support to families to prevent withdrawals and encourage participation.
• Assist with student recruitment efforts and respond to press inquiries.
• Coordinate with Community Coordinators on activities and field trips.
• Develop counseling programs for students and families related to academics and graduation.
• Oversee and maintain each student’s Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
• Stay informed about high school graduation requirements and communicate to relevant coordinators.
• Plan course selection and Four Year Plans aligned to state requirements.
• Counsel students on dropping courses and changing schedules.
• Review transcripts and ensure accuracy of credits in the online system.
• Generate official transcripts on request and assist with withdrawal data collection.
• Design crisis prevention/management plans and lead Crisis Management Team.
• Lead teams to identify community resources and maintain resource lists.
• Review attendance and performance for secondary students and adjust processes.
• Collaborate with teachers to enhance curriculum and meet state requirements.
• Develop programs like AP support, SAT/ACT prep and college entrance prep.
• Design professional development for teachers and staff.
• Coordinate high school graduation ceremonies.
