Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to turn AI capabilities into durable products. You’ll work close to users, decisions, and production code, guiding features from prototype to secure service. The role demands founder-like ownership, rapid testing, and a bias for simplicity when evidence favors it.

You’ll join Challenger, EY's program building next-generation services with fast, real-world validation. Travel up to 50% and hybrid office participation are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: take software from unclear concept through launch, learning, and adoption.
• Technical breadth: frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud tech.
• Applied AI experience: building products with large language models, retrieval, tools.
• Evaluation experience: automated testing and behavioral evaluation.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response.
• User-centered practice with direct user, designer, and product-leader collaboration.
• Engineering craft: clear specifications, maintainable code, thoughtful review.
• Travel and on-site up to 50% in hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user by engaging with users and domain experts to map real workflows.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specifications, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and enterprise integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context design, and tool use.
• Build an evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption and system performance, latency, and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permission boundaries and secure data handling.
• Own production quality by releasing incrementally and monitoring live behavior.
• Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and components across the platform.
