Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a qualified medical coder for facility outpatient coding, including Same Day Surgery. You will assign ICD-10, CPT and modifiers per official guidelines and client rules, while upholding AHIMA/AAPC ethics.

This full-time role offers telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S., with 40 hours per week, standard hours plus occasional overtime. You will work with EMR systems and Excel, maintain current coding knowledge, and participate in department meetings and continued

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• AHIMA/AAPC certification required and maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers.
• 2+ years of acute surgery experience.
• Proficient with Windows and Excel; comfortable with EMR systems.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Code facility outpatient services including Same Day Surgery.
• Assign ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers per guidelines and client rules.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AHIMA and/or AAPC.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity.
• Stay current with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS; review materials from QM/Provider leadership.
• Participate in coding department meetings and education events.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
