Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead front-line manufacturing. You will oversee the entire production flow, ensure safety, quality, and USDA compliance, and drive on-time targets across shifts.

You’ll train and coach hourly staff, run monthly line meetings, analyze yields and waste, and collaborate with Operations to improve processes. Travel up to 5% may be required; relocation package available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience required.
• Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching or mentoring to staff.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written) while leading problem-solving efforts for complex process issues with solid analytical and math abilities.
• Skilled at motivating, training, and coaching employees to achieve peak performance while fostering a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
• Adaptable to fast-paced, dynamic environments, capable of working in varying conditions and willing to work long hours and weekends when needed.
• This role offers the opportunity to travel up to 5% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Compliance: daily inspections and safety audits, HACCP and USDA regulations adherence.
• Product Quality and Training: enforce Food Safety/Quality plans; train on SOPs including LOTO.
• Operational Efficiency: track yields, efficiency, and variances; work to improve workflows and reduce downtime.
• Team Leadership and Communication: guide hourly staff; lead monthly line meetings and on-floor communications.
• Continuous Improvement: analyze metrics and implement changes to improve efficiency and cost.
