Job description

You will lead and perform complex analyses for a range of actuarial activities related to Reinsurance pricing for a line of business (LOB). Your responsibilities include building models and projections to enable the business to generate consistent, sound prices, and serving as a subject matter expert and consultant to business partners across the organization. You will present findings and recommendations to improve development or effectiveness. You will report to the Director, Actuary - Reinsurance.

$111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

1. Develop relationships with core business partners and provide insights and solutions to address specific concerns.
2. Explore new concepts, statistical models, and data sources to deliver innovative solutions.
3. Contribute to all aspects of pricing, potentially owning recurring processes.
4. Facilitate the pricing strategy.
5. Develop pricing for new products and rating structures.
6. Monitor industry and competitor trends to assess their impact on actuarial strategies.
7. Analyze the profitability of assumed casualty treaty reinsurance opportunities.
8. Maintain a portfolio analytics framework with consistent standards for evaluating reinsurance opportunities.
9. Create a collaborative, performance-driven environment, fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion. Mentor team members.
10. Collaborate with Underwriting to provide input on potential deals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements

1. Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
2. Experience analyzing assumed reinsurance treaties.
3. Experience pricing assumed casualty reinsurance treaty submissions.
4. Strong understanding of complex insurance and reinsurance structures.
5. Knowledge of property and casualty products, pricing, rates, and industry trends.
6. Understanding of the global reinsurance industry, including market, regulatory, judicial climate, and consumer activism.
7. Proficiency with Excel, SQL, Python, and basic programming.
8. Knowledge of catastrophe models such as RMS and AIR.
9. Expertise in advanced financial and statistical analysis techniques, including actuarial methods.
10. Understanding of data models, database design, and development.
11. Associate or Fellow designation in Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS or FCAS).

Travel and Physical Requirements

• Up to 10% travel required.
• Primarily sitting or standing work.
