Job description

You will lead and perform complex analyses for the full range of actuarial activities related to Reinsurance pricing for a line of business (LOB). Build models and projections to enable the business to generate consistent and sound prices. Develop forecasts and models for reinsurance. Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant to business partners across the organization. Present findings and recommendations on development or effectiveness.

You will report to the Director, Actuary - Reinsurance.

Position Compensation Range: $111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities:

  1. Develop relationships with core business partners and provide insights and solutions for specific concerns.
  2. Explore new concepts, models, and data sources for innovative solutions.
  3. Contribute to all aspects of pricing and own recurring processes.
  4. Facilitate pricing strategies.
  5. Develop pricing for new products and rating structures.
  6. Monitor industry and competitor trends to inform strategies.
  7. Analyze profitability of casualty treaty reinsurance opportunities.
  8. Maintain a portfolio analytics framework with consistent standards.
  9. Create a collaborative environment, fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion. Mentor team members.
  10. Collaborate with Underwriting on potential deals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements:

  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
  • Experience analyzing and pricing assumed reinsurance treaties.
  • Strong understanding of complex insurance and reinsurance structures.
  • Knowledge of property and casualty products, pricing, and industry trends.
  • Understanding of the global reinsurance industry, including market, regulatory, and judicial aspects.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python, and basic programming.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe models like RMS and AIR.
  • Expertise in advanced financial and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of data models and database design.
  • Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS or FCAS).

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

Physical Requirements: Primarily sitting/standing work.
