Position Overview

As an Actuarial Consultant, you will work with a team of industry professionals on regulatory consulting and other insurance industry engagements. This position offers opportunities for advancement, personal, and professional growth.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary slightly depending on seniority level.

  1. Serve as a health actuarial consultant on client engagements, including financial exams, rate filing reviews, special studies, and research projects; adhere to project budgets and timelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or Statistics; MBA and/or professional certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in a state insurance department, health insurance company, financial services, or consulting firm.
  • ASA, FSA, MAAA, FSPA, or MSPA designations preferred.
  • Experience with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and ACA pricing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare Supplement products is preferred.
  • Knowledge of actuarial concepts including health rating, underwriting, financial modeling, risk management, pricing, and reinsurance.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in PC skills, including software for presentations, spreadsheets, and project planning (Visual Basic, MS Excel, R, Python, etc.).
  • Effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
  • Adherence to ethical and professional standards outlined by the firm.

Salary Range: $92,100 - $185,400. Discretionary bonuses are available based on performance.
