Job summary

The successful candidate will report to the Regulatory Director, collaborate with policy teams, and monitor statewide and federal developments, ensuring clear communication and timely recommendations across agencies.

Qualifications

• At least 2–4 years of relevant experience in public policy, government, law, advocacy, or related field.
• Detail-oriented with excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, research, writing, and editing abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to build consensus.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to translate complex issues clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate judgment, professionalism, and discretion with sensitive matters.
• Eagerness to learn about Virginia’s regulatory processes.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor regulatory actions from across state agencies.
• Review and analyze proposed regulations for readability and public welfare impact.
• Prepare policy memos summarizing actions and recommending options.
• Facilitate communications between the Governor’s Office, secretariats, and state agencies.
• Review legislation to assess regulatory impact.
• Conduct research on regulatory, policy, and legislative topics.
• Monitor state and federal regulatory developments.
• Collaborate with secretariats, agencies, and Governor’s teams to build relationships.
• Identify opportunities to improve the regulatory review process.
